Keep Kitchen
Opening the Space Without Expanding the Footprint
The Keeps had lived with a cramped, outdated kitchen for more than three decades. The layout felt closed off, storage was limited, and the space no longer reflected how they wanted to live. They initially explored adding square footage, but once we evaluated the home together, it became clear that better planning — not an addition — was the smarter investment.
Working alongside a local design professional, we reimagined the space from the inside out. A partition wall that had been cutting the room in half was shortened to improve flow and sightlines. An awkward pass-through was closed off, allowing us to reclaim valuable wall space for cabinetry and storage.
The transformation came through thoughtful layout changes and strong material choices. Durable, high-quality finishes ensure longevity. Custom cabinetry provides abundant storage. Layered lighting — from overhead fixtures to under-cabinet task lighting and statement island pendants — creates flexibility for everyday living and entertaining.
We even incorporated a built-in hydration station for their dogs — a small but meaningful detail that reflects how this family uses their home.
The result is an open, welcoming kitchen that feels significantly larger without altering the home’s footprint — designed for daily function and built to last.
